Welcome! By accident or by design you have come upon the Temple Israel web site. I hope this will be a fortuitous visit for you. If you are in search for Jewish life in Tallahassee, then you have absolutely come to the right place. In the corridor between Jacksonville and New Orleans, Temple Israel is the largest Jewish insititution throughout south Georgia, south Alabama and Mississippi.
Our 385 plus families enjoy a vibrant Jewish life. We not only provide a fine religious education for Jewish children in our area, but we have the most comprehensive program of adult Jewish education as well, with classes happening almost every week. We publish a weekly message that offers insights into the weekly torah portion; we count the Omer with daily teachings. In short, Torah pervades all that our congregation does.
We provide extensive Jewish programming including our annual Jewish Food and Cultural Festival, which last year drew over 2,000 guests. Out annual family Shabbaton provides an opportunity for members to celebrate Shabbat as a community in a creative and fun way. We have services every Friday night and Saturday morning, celebrate all of the Jewish holidays and even provide a morning minyan every Wednesday at 7:15 a.m.
As a member congregation of the Union for Reform Judaism, our children have the opportunity to attend Camp Coleman, one of the premier Jewish camps in the the southeastern United States. We have very active youth groups for teens and pre-teens who participate in regional and national youth activities through NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth).
If you are looking for a way to connect to Judaism, if you are searching for a Jewish spiritual home, if you are looking for a warm, embracing Jewish community, then please feel free to contact me or Heather Kufert, our Program Director, and one of us will show you around our wonderful congreation. It would be our distinct pleasure.

L'shalom,

Jack Romberg
