Shabbat Evening Services Each week Temple Israel welcomes Shabbat with a joyous, family-oriented Kabbalat Shabbat Service. Join us Friday nights at 7:30 in the main sanctuary where services led by our Rabbi Romberg and Cantor Tamarkin emphasize song, prayer from the heart, participation, and learning. We also have Learners Services for those particularly interested in becoming more familiar with and comfortable participating in Jewish worship, and special music- filled services designed to teach congregants new tunes to our favorite and familiar prayers. Services are followed by an Oneg Shabbat where congregants share dessert and spend time with friends and family.
Shabbat Morning Services Every Saturday morning at 10:15 our congregation meets to celebrate Shabbat and the reading of Torah in a spirit of holiness, spirituality and joy. Our blend of tradition, warmth and learning make this a special service for all who attend. Led by our Rabbi and Cantor, congregants participate in all aspects of the service including Torah and Haftorah reading and lively discussions of the weekly Parasha. Join us in the main sanctuary, or when the weather is good, outside on the patio for inspiration from our rich Jewish tradition. Services are followed by a dairy Kiddush lunch where congregants sit back, catch up with friends old and new, and enjoy the spirit of Shabbat.
Tot Shabbat Once a month children ages 2-5, love this special service designed by our Rabbi and Cantor on our Bimah to welcome Shabbat with songs and stories. This interactive service not only initiates our youngest members to the joys of Jewish worship, but begins their lifelong journey of study and love for Torah and Judaism.
Midweek Minyan
Every Wednesday morning at 7:15 A.M. a mid-week Shacahrit service is conducted in the Temple chapel. Providing a spiritual lift at the midpoint between Shabbatot, this thirty minute service always includes a short word on the weekly Torah portion, and a keen sense of Jewish camaraderie.
Chavurat Tallahassee P'nai Or
Chavurat Tallahassee P'nai Or provides regular opportunities for meaningful Jewish spiritual experiences through prayer practice, study and practical tikkun olam. We are a continuation and evolution of the Tallahassee Chavurah originally formed in 1993. We are committed to deepen our knowledge of G-d and of ourselves while we actively maintain a sense of rootedness and joy in Judaism. Gatherings are held in participant's homes to encourage a more intimate spiritual experience and provide opportunities for leadership and inclusiveness. Chavurat Tallahassee P'nai Or meets twice a month, once for a Shabbat dinner with a brief "table service" and once for Shabbat morning service. Every event includes a covered-dish or pot-luck vegetarian/dairy meal.
For general information, or if you would like to host a Shabbat dinner or participate in leading a Shabbat morning service, please contact Judith Lyons: <jsblyons@gmail.com> or 877-6851.
